But starting again meant repeating work: returning to search, finding another freelancer, opening a new conversation, and rewriting the same project inquiry.
I designed Forward Messaging for Fiverr's mobile app — a lightweight way for buyers to reuse an existing inquiry to reach additional relevant freelancers, without starting from scratch.
When a conversation didn't move forward, that context effectively became a dead end.
The opportunity was simple: turn an existing message into a starting point for the next conversation.
ONE INQUIRY
Invisible when not.
When the system recognized the first message from a buyer to a seller, a contextual “Forward to More Sellers” chip appeared directly beneath it, encouraging buyers to expand their reach without repeating their project inquiry.
For regular messages, Forward remained available through long press, keeping the action accessible without adding permanent UI to every conversation.
The experience needed to help buyers decide who to contact next, without sending them back through the entire discovery journey.
I designed a forwarding flow that connected messaging with Fiverr's existing marketplace signals, giving buyers several paths forward:
Recent conversations
continue with someone they already contacted
Recently viewed Gigs
return to freelancers they'd considered
Recommended Gigs
discover relevant new options
This transformed a familiar messaging interaction into something specific to Fiverr: forwarding as a lightweight path back into discovery.
Write once
(Observed in the tested group during the feature's rollout)
By removing the need to restart the discovery and messaging process, Forward Messaging turned a small inbox interaction into a shortcut between conversations, helping more buyer inquiries continue toward an order.
